Contestants bring high-energy personalities and their own game-winning strategy — choosing to either play as themselves or “catfish” as someone entirely different . They’re sequestered in individual rooms and tasked with messaging their fellow contestants by way of a screen. The players periodically “rate” one another, and the highest-ranked pair gets to choose who to toss from the competition.
The lyrics explain the premise for each new series and also reveal which other dating shows will return this year. Unfortunately, none of the song lyrics mention “Dating Around,” arguably Netflix’s most underrated reality show. But, there are still plenty of other romantic series for fans to binge-watch. The fan-favorite dating reality show is back for its fourth run on the streaming service.
The ultimate goal of the show is for the couples to decide if they want to get married. Another original on Netflix, Love is Blind follows 30 attractive singles from Atlanta, who are dropped into a blind-dating facility, with the men living on one side and the women on the other. The only contact they have with each other is through pods, two rooms filled with plush sofas, and separated by an opaque glass wall.
It’s shockingly brutal, and only slightly offset by all the other footage of another date that definitely ends in sex. This is what gets you hooked, because the whole thing immediately becomes a horse race. Within three minutes, you’ve automatically ranked all the dates in terms of suitability. We meet someone else whose opening gambit is “Guess how old I am”, falling at the first hurdle.
